As expected, the much rumored match between Stone Cold Steve Austin and Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 32 is a dud.

The idea came up when Austin had Paul Heyman as his guest during his monthly Stone Cold podcast. In case you missed it, you can watch the video below.

For his part, Austin admitted that he did get carried away when he was thrown that idea. With Wrestlemania 32 taking place right at the Rattlesnake’s own turf, the event simply would not be complete without Austin taking part in it.

As to why he jumped at the idea, Austin reveals that his interview with mentor Paul Heyman simply pushed him to Stone Cold mode. And we all know what it means when Austin turns into that, someone who is not to back down on anything despite the fact that he has long been out of the wrestling ring.

More so, Austin was clueless on what he and Heyman would be discussing and admitted that he was simply trying to get into the groove of building the match in case it would ever happened.

“Here's the thing. What I did was kind of raised the hopes of people, and halfway kind of half-ass booked myself into a match - which was not my intention. So, at WrestleMania 32, I don't believe you're gonna be seeing Brock Lesnar-Stone Cold Steve Austin in the same ring, so it wasn't my intention to get into booking territory or spin a match or sell a match, so I just wanted to make that clear to everybody” said Austin in a new podcast uploaded this week

With the match going caput, this of course doesn’t mean that Austin will not be on hand.

There are other ways to get the Rattlesnake involved, perhaps in the same capacity that other WWE Legends have made from previous events, not just during Wrestlemania pay-per-views.

Being a guest referee is unlikely since Austin seems to have worn out that part already. He has served as one for classic matches like the one between Lesnar and Bill Goldberg in 2004. That role recurred in several other occasions so seeing him do it again looks unlikely.

How about serving as the host for Wrestlemania 32? Now this makes more sense.

With the event set right in his own backyard, seeing Austin as a host seems like the most viable options among possible scenarios.

Whatever the WWE decides the only things sure are that Austin will not wrestle but will surely be someone that needs to be there when Wrestlemania 32 takes center stage on April 3, 2016 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
