NBA News & Rumors: Jeremy Lin Coming Back to the Rockets?

With the Houston Rockets still reeling from their elimination in the previous Western Conference Finals loss to the Golden State Warriors, it is apparent that the team will need to fill in some holes evident during the series.

Among them is the big hole in the point guard position, something which oddly saw Josh Smith playing point during some games.

A healthy Patrick Beverly would have been a big help but a wrist injury prevented him from being contributing. So who do the Rockets target?

When the NBA free agency kicks off in July, there are a lot of good point guards they can consider such as Rajon Rondo, Goran Dragic and Reggie Jackson. If they can work a deal with the Brooklyn Nets, they may even consider Deron Williams though his fat contract could be a problem.

While those names could certainly offer a big boost to the playmaking spot the Rockets need to fill up soon, why not consider Jeremy Lin?

One guy batting for Lin is star player James Harden. Both played before so as far as chemistry is concerned, why go for someone who would need time to gel with the team?

As singled out by Arnel Imperial of Yibada, Lin could be the answer to the Rockets point guard woes. Lin was not able to hit his stride during his two-year stay in Houston, eventually losing his starting spot to Beverly.

Just the same, it remains that Lin had his moments. He plays the pick-and-roll well and can penetrate the paint when he wants to.

At the moment, Lin finds himself in a bind with the Los Angeles Lakers not expected to bring him back. Lin did not hit it off well with Byron Scott and Kobe Bryant and has since been believed to be on his way out.

No other team has shown interest (for now) on Lin though there were previous rumors linking him to a possible reunion with Mike D’ Antoni with the Denver Nuggets. All that of course would depend if the Nuggets to hire D’Antoni plus the fact that the team may be letting go of Ty Lawson soon.

Lin returning to the Rockets seems like a more feasible scenario and the most logical thing that would leave both him and the Rockets in a win-win situation.

So will it be a homecoming for Lin at Houston? Only general manager Daryl Morley may have the answer to that as the Rockets try to rebound from a stinging end to their 2014-15 campaign.
