Action star Jason Statham recently reckoned he'll make a "decent Bond" and that he'll definitely take on the famous super spy if the role was offered to him.

"Could I do it? Abso-f***ing-lutely!" he exclaimed to The Guardian in an interview. "Would I do it? Abso-f***ing-lutely!"

If indeed Statham would become James Bond, he'll probably be the first one with a visibly gleaming cranium. Technically, Sean Connery was that when he took on the iconic role back in 1962 when he was still in his early thirties, but he wore a hairpiece to mask his already thinning hair, Movie Time recalled. What do you say to a bald Bond?

The "Spy" star however contended that things will take a "very, very different" turn if he took on 007 although, as The Guardian observed, he's a suitable choice for the role, nonetheless.

"There's no doubt Statham can walk the Bond walk," the publication said. "And talking his talk can hardly be an issue with a character whose accent has fluctuated between Sean Connery's Scottish brogue and Timothy Dalton's Welsh." "Statham's self-made, by-the-bootstraps backstory is surely more in tune with modern Britain than the traditional public-school elitist Bond biography," it added.

The Bond role may boost Statham's profile even further, and may even possibly land him roles that would make him flex his acting muscles more - something that the man appeared to be doing in the last 2 years. He had starred in 2013's "Hummingbird," which is an action film that had Statham pulling expressions he'd never had to make in the past. He'll also be working on "Viva La Madness," which is the sequel to "Layer Cake," where "Statham's character was played by Daniel Craig."

"'Layer Cake' was credited as Craig's audition for James Bond," it went on to say.

There's still time to convince the powers that be to cast Statham as 007, as Craig is still set to make one more Bond flick after "Spectre." Perhaps the fact that the franchise could land in another studio's hands after the upcoming Bond movie is released may boost Statham's chances of being cast in the role.

"Sony Pictures could lose its licence to kill after the new James Bond film, Spectre, is released this November," BBC said. "The company currently co-finances and distributes the Bond series to cinemas under an agreement with film-makers Metro Goldwyn-Mayer - but the deal expires this year."

According to insiders, Warner Bros. is said to be interested in getting the film rights and is reportedly Sony's top contender.
