Playstation 4 Leak Rumors: Orbis Dev Kits Revealed; System to Run 1080p60 Games in 3D?

Although little is known about the Playstation 4, new dev kits may have leaked some vital information on the upcoming system.

According to IGN, a new version of the PS 4 dev kit is being sent out to developers with a final version expected in 2013. Video Game website VG247 also stated that the console will include Blu-ray support and will not be developed in Japan.

The dev kits that are being shipped out are encased in a normal PC case. This is the second version; the first one was simply a graphics card. A third version will be sent out on Saturday and a final one is expected in the summer.

The shipping of the kits are the result of meetings Sony held in the US this week. During these meetings, the company discussed importante features for the console as well as its capabilities. According to VG247, the aim is to run 1080p60 games in 3D. According to IGN, the company did not refer to the Playstation 4 during the meeting but instead called the console "Orbis" the entire time.

The kits are seemingly based on the AMD's A10 APU series and could come with either 8GB or 16GB of RAM. It also seems that a 256GB hard drive will be the standard. These properties ensure that the PS 4 or "Orbis" will be capable of running at the 1080p60 in 3D.

The kits also have Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity and include HDMI out slots. IGN reports that the UI will now enable players to press the PS button mid-game and travel "anywhere" on the system. For example, players can jump to the Playstation store mid-game and return to the game without any interruptions.
