Will Rockstar finally announce the arrival of the next "Red Dead Redemption" game this month?

An alleged former Rockstar employee has earlier leaked that "Red Dead Redemption 2" would likely be announced this month, specifically during the E3 event. The revelation came through a Reddit post wherein several other details about the new game have been divulged. One of the details revealed was the new game's alleged title which is "Legends of the West."

"Hello. I am a former Rockstar game dev. I will not give any more personal information for my safety. My boss was a major D*** so this is why I am leaking info on the up coming Red Dead Redemption prequel. The sequel will be called 'Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West'. Although it is the second (or third if you consider Undead Nightmare a sequel) game, It is chronologically before the original game. The game will take place in the same area as the original game, twelve years before the first original game," the post read.

The Reddit post also revealed that there will be three playable characters in the game, two of which are from the original game while the other will be a completely new one. The two original characters are Irish and Seth. The third character is said to be customizable. Players can choose his name, his clothes and even the breed of horse he will have.

But in our previous report, we detailed about the possibility of John Marston's son starring in the new game installment, as also aired by Movie Pilot.

There will also be new stranger missions, the post said. Only Irish and Seth can be used but the third one could be involved in the campaign. In the new game, players can join gangs or even the law enforcers of some towns.

As for the release, Michael Pachter of Wedbush Securities, raised doubts about the sequel's arrival this year (via Gaming Bolt).

"I don't think the sequel to Red Dead Redemption is the next Rockstar game. Remember when I said there was some new IP that they've been working on since at least '09?...I think Rockstar has a really amazing number of great games and great IPs, and I don't think that Rockstar are motivated by money. I think Rockstar are motivated by high quality game experiences. And I don't think that they're willing to abandon those other brands in order to generate higher sales for their parent company. I think that they want to keep all those brands alive," Pachter was quoted in the Gaming Bolt report saying.
