Who knew Bruce Jenner would also have his turn at breaking the Internet with a revealing magazine cover?

Social media went gaga over the revelation of Vanity Fair's upcoming magazine cover, which introduced former Olympian Bruce Jenner as "Caitlyn," who wore nothing more than a bustier and matching feminine underpants.

What made the revelation even more gasp-inducing is the fact that very little was leaked about the impending issue, thanks to the stringent security measures the magazine had undertaken to protect the project. Mashable said that staff worked on Jenner's photos on a computer that had no Internet connection.

In the wake of the stunning revelation, some have been wondering about the former athlete's name choice. Some had suspected that it had been inspired by the name of son Brody Jenner's girlfriend, Kaitlynn Carter. However, insiders reportedly explained that the 65-year-old had already picked the name even before Brody got involved with his current girlfriend, MailOnline said.

Some have noticed that the name could have been spelled with a "K," following the Kardashian naming tradition. However, Jenner reportedly steered clear from it "because she wants a clean break from the Kardashian moniker," according to a source quoted by TMZ.

"She has never been her own person before, and becoming part of the Kardashian brood would undermine her goal," the site said. "It's not that there's bad blood between Caitlyn and the Kardashians ... it's all about self-identity.

Jenner has not yet spoken at length about her name choice, only that she just always loved associating herself with the said name in the context of her life as a female. Time, however, attempted to offer explanations for it.

"Jenner appears to be among those who picked a name for which they've already carved out an identity, even if that person was never out in the open before," the news source said.

"I know people who have picked their name because they've always used that name to describe themselves privately," said Mara Keisling, National Center for Transgender Equality's executive director. "Even when they were a little kid and everyone was calling them Jason, they knew they were Emma and they always referred to themselves as Emma."

Meanwhile, Jenner reportedly made history with the unveiling of her new identity, as her Twitter account "broke President Barack Obama's world record for the fastest time getting to 1 million followers on Monday, reaching the mark just four hours after sharing her first tweet," Politico reported.

"It took @POTUS a little less than five hours to get to a million," the site added.
