With "The Big Bang Theory" going on its ninth season, it appears nerds do rock - and make for good entertainment. With that, what's in store for the gang in the upcoming season?

Based on the revelations made by the show's producer, it appears Season 9 will be rife with love problems.

When asked about the state of Leonard and Penny's relationship, Steve Molaro had this to say to The Hollywood Reporter:

"They're still driving to Vegas but the mood is certainly a little chilly. They're in a very interesting place and we'll find out what happens when they get there."

When pressed about whether the couple will be wed, Molaro side steps the question by inviting readers to tune in to the show once it returns on air in the fall.

Now that's one cliffhanger worth settling come fall.

Leonard and Penny's love debacle is just one of the love woes shown in the series, as it can be recalled that Amy and Sheldon had called it quits in Season 8.

"The relationship of Raj and Emily will also be tested in Season 9 as Raj tries to find a way to solve his problem of communicating well with women," Master Herald noted.

Then there's also Howard and Bernadette, who will be moving to the former's house. This move will prove to be a "tough" hurdle for the couple, according to Molaro.

"This is a house that he grew up in with his mom - who he was very attached to - and [that] he and Bernadette are trying to make this 'their' home when it feels like his mom's home is an interesting thing," he explained. "That's one thing that they'll probably be trying to deal with."

Looks like the upcoming season will be as interesting as ever. However, if you're worried whether it will be the last, do be comforted by Molaro's statement, which indicated that the series ending is "so far away that we really just need to keep focusing on trying to keep the quality up as much as we possibly can along the way."

In other news, the success of the show has inspired some of the actors on the sitcom to set up a scholarship at the University of California "for science students seeking financial aid," according to The New York Times.

"The Big Bang Theory Scholarship Endowment has already raised more than $4 million, including gifts from the stars Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, Johnny Galecki, and Mayim Bialik. Scholarships will be awarded to 20 low-income science students this fall, and five students per year going forward," the publication said.
