George R.R. Martin, the author behind the worldwide phenomenal "A Song of Ice and Fire" saga, which inspired HBO's hit series "Game of Thrones" confirmed that he will finish the last book before the Season 6 debut.
Fans of "Game of Thrones" have waited for this moment in a long time. In an article by Latin Post, it was revealed that Martin will finish his sixth and final book for the novel. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly last April, the author said he is determined to wrap up his sixth book.
"I wish it was out now. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic about how quickly I can finish. But I canceled two convention appearances, I'm turning down a lot more interviews-anything I can do to clear my decks and get this done," Martin said.
The book "Winds of Winter" should come around spring time of 2016. Fans of Martin would be rejoicing when they finally get ahold of the long-awaited finale book which concludes the "Game of Thrones" series.
To finish "Winds of Winter," Martin did not participate in writing the script for the Season 5 of "Game of Thrones." The author said that he had to sacrifice a lot in order to focus on the book but assured avid fans that it will be worth the wait especially with the kind of plot that he has in mind.
"This is going to drive your readers crazy, but I love it. I'm still weighing whether to go that direction or not. It's a great twist. It's easy to do things that are shocking or unexpected, but they have to grow out of characters. They have to grow out of situations. Otherwise, it's just being shocking for being shocking. But this is something that seems very organic and natural, and I could see how it would happen. And with the various three, four characters involved... it all makes sense. But it's nothing I've ever thought of before. And it's nothing they can do in the show, because the show has already-on this particular character-made a couple decisions that will preclude it, where in my case I have not made those decisions," Martin shared.
Martin may introduce a couple of new characters in the upcoming "Winds of Winter" but in an article by CNET, it was reported that the author had thousands of persona in his books and for "practical reasons" showrunners of "Game of Thrones" D.B. Weiss and David Benioff had to oust some characters in order for the show to move forward.
