A new device was spotted in the GFX benchmark database, and it is rumored to be the new flagship smartphone of Microsoft.

Neowin wrote that the device is believed to be the highly anticipated Microsoft Lumia 940, also called the Nokia RM-1106.

Based on the data presented about the Nokia RM-1106, the device is equipped with a hexa-core CPU, which is rumored to be the Snapdragon 808 processor. There is also a new version of the Adrena 430 GPU, 32 GB of storage, 3GB of RAM and a 5.2-inch display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. The data also revealed that the phone will have a 20-megapixel rear camera. The display resolution is said to be 2560 x 1440 while the front camera was shown to be 4.8 megapixels. A number of features were also revealed, such as an accelerometer, compass, gyroscope, NFC, light sensor and proximity.

NokiaPowerUser said that there are presumptions that the new device will be called the Lumia 940; that is, considering how the last flagship phone was known as the Lumia 930. The blog also claimed that the 1080p resolution was only a crop of the full resolution that the phone is reportedly capable of. The rear camera was shown to be only 17 megapixels on the database entry, but NokiaPowerUser wrote that the true resolution would be 20 megapixels. The picture was cropped to 4:3, resulting to a reduction in the image pixilation by 15 percent to achieve the target aspect ratio, hence, the 17-megapixel rear camera presentation.

GSM Arena showed an image of a device, rumored to be the Lumia 940. The phone had 2.5D glass with beveled edges for a Nokia prototype. In another report, the Lumia 940 was predicted to have a QHD screen, as well as a bigger XL version with a 5.7-inch screen. The batteries were said to be 3,000mAh and 3,300mAh respectively.

Phone Continuum has been one of the highly anticipated features of Windows 10 mobile. The new flagship smartphone may be the first device that will showcase Phone Continuum. Continuum for Windows 10 on phones and tablets was demonstrated at Build Microsoft, showing how the devices can link to wireless keyboards and displays. The feature will have wider coverage for the mobile version of the upcoming Windows 10. Regular keyboard hotkeys can be used while the phone is in "productivity mode", copying the traditional desktop of Windows 10, without the features.

The possible release of Microsoft Lumia 940 would end the long break since its last flagship smartphone.
