There are rumors that a new 'Transformers' movie is in the works.

In an exclusive report, Deadline revealed that production writers Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, who worked on the upcoming film 'Ant-Man,' recently joined the writing team organized by director Michael Bay and Paramount Pictures to come up with prequels, sequels and spinoffs on the "Transformers" franchise.

There are talks that there is a developing title of 'Transformers One,' which is an origins story that happens on planet Cybertron where the Autobots and Decepticons come from. Hasbro reportedly initiated the talks to create an origins script. The producers and writers are still determining whether the next project would be an animated feature or a live-action film. Insiders at Paramount indicated that the details have not yet been reached, although a Cybertron movie is the general plan.

In March 2015, Deadline also reported that Paramount Pictures negotiated with Akiya Goldsman to collaborate with Michael Bay, executive producer Steven Spielberg and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura to create the "writer's room." The brain trust of writers also included Robert Kirkman, who worked on 'The Walking Dead,' and Zak Penn, who worked on 'Incredible Hulk.' The objective is to have a prequel or sequel prepared when Bay is done working on other projects. It is understandable why Paramount wants more 'Transformers' movies, considering how the latest film 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' was the biggest blockbuster of 2014, raking in almost $1.1 billion at the box office.

Brian Goldner, CEO of Hasbro, confirmed the possible launch year for Transformers 5, as well as the presence of the Transformers Cinematic Universe during the 2015 Q1 Earnings Conference Call in April 2015, based on a report by TFW2005.

Goldner shared, "Our plan with the studio and filmmakers you may have heard some writers being hired and we have in fact brought in Akiya Goldsman to lead a group of writers to really create a strategic plan around Transformers. We think there are many number of stories to be told from the brand that has been around for 30 years with amazing canon and mythology. We would expect the sequel to the Transformers movie [TF4] to happen in 2017."

With regard to the cast, Crossmap revealed that Mark Wahlberg and Megan Fox will most likely return in the fifth movie. Fans have long been asking for the actress to come back to the movie that made her famous. Optimus Prime is also expected to be back.
