Hurricane Sandy had a tremendous effect upon Long Island New York leaving over 7,000 people without power in East Meadow, NY.

The lack of light is a result of numerous fallen trees in the area. A fallen tree on Prospect Avenue near the East Meadow Avenue intersection continues fallen and tangled with numerous power cables. Yellow tape has been placed around the tree to avoid any incoming traffic.

There are no indications as to when the Long Island Power Authority will come to take care of the situation, but speculation indicates that due to the tangling of the power cables in the massive tree, it is essential not only to have LIPA to fix it, but others to help take down the tree as well.

A number of other fallen trees have been cut down in the same area, but none were tangled up with power cables. If the cable were to be ruptured in the process of taking down the tree, results could be relatively dangerous for nearby houses.
