Rumors are circulating about the Xiaomi Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus, with users speculating the features that might come out in the latest device.

GSM Arena cited that fans are expecting the upcoming smartphone to have a 5.5-inch screen, which was initially predicted to be 5.2 inches late in April 2015. The resolution may be improved to QHD at 2560 x 1440 in the process. Mi5Xiaomi.com cited that the phone will be ideal for mobile gaming and video streaming because of its Adreno 430 GPU, 4k HD video streaming and Generation Next IR Blaster. The Mi 5 can immediately be linked to a user's Ultra HD widescreen TV via HDMI to provide a real gaming experience. The phone will allegedly have a bezel-less screen appearance. Also, the device will most likely present a Snapdragon 820 chipset, together with Sense ID support, which is a fingerprint sensor technology that will use ultrasound instead of optics. Ultrasound sensors are reportedly more durable when exposed to water and dirt.

GSM Arena also wrote that the Xiaomi Mi 5 may feature 4GB of RAM, which is 1GB higher compared to its predecessor. Users will also have a choice between 16GB and 64GB of internal memory. As for dimensions, the device is expected to be 5.1-mm thick and made of aluminum. There are talks that the Mi 5 will have a 16-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization and an 8-megapixel front camera. A USB Type C connector may also appear in the new product.

As for the Xiaomi Mi 5 Plus, the screen is said to be 6 inches big. Mi5Xiaomi.com reported that the Mi 5 may have a battery capacity of 3,200 mAh while the Mi 5 Plus might have a 4,000 mAh battery. The smartphones are expected to be water-resistant, having an IP rating of 67. There are also rumors that Xiaomi is working to make their future devices drop-resistant as well, although the feature may not appear in the Mi 5.

The product is expected to retail at $350 when it launches.

More news should appear about the Xiaomi Mi 5 in July, while the official release may be in October or November 2015, based on a report by a Chinese website.

Overall, the Xiaomi Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus are set to be among the fastest and best-performing smartphones when these release. Xiaomi is one of the top device manufacturers in Asia and is planning to expand to other markets in the west, according to the same report by Mi5Xiaomi.com.
