Speculations continue to pile up about the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2, the latest of which claims that the upcoming tablet will have an ultra-thin design that will trump other slim tablets currently out in the market.

Check out the latest reports about Samsung's tablet below. We compared it with the already released iPad Air 2. Note that these are all unconfirmed and official news from the tech giant about the Galaxy Tab S2 is yet to be announced.

Specs & Features

According to Digital Trends, Samsung is prepping to launch two variants of ultra-thin tablets labeled Galaxy Tab S2. Leaked specifications of the device indicated that the model will come in at an 8-inch screen or a larger 9.7-inch one, with both variants having full metal bodies just 5.4mm thick. It will also have Super AMOLED screen display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels and 4:3 aspect ratio.

Ecumenical News noted that its design will lean heavily on the Galaxy S6's appearance.OnLeaks previously shared a supposedly leaked image of the tablet on Twitter.

Citing sources, iSchoolGuide wrote that the Galaxy Tab S2 models will be powered by the latest 64-bit Exynos processor and will have 3GB RAM space and 32GB ROM. Other rumored features include a microSD card slot, Samsung's in-house modem with Cat. 6 LTE (300Mbps), and Android 5.0.2 Lollipop as its operating system. For its shooter, an 8-megapixel main camera will reportedly be included in the device as well as a 2.1MP front facing one..

According to iSchoolGuide, the 8-inch variant will have the dimensions of 198.2 × 134.5 × 5.4 mm, while the 9.7-inch model will come in at 237.1 × 168.8 × 5.4 mm. As expected, both models are light in weight and only measures at 260 grams and 407 grams, respectively.

Sammobile claimed the two models could come in two types -- Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi + LTE. The tablets will have an international release, which includes stores in the U.S., Canada, European markets, China, Latin America, Hong Kong, Korea, and India.

In contrast, the iPad Air 2, known for its impressively thin and light design, has a 2048-by-1536-pixel resolution at 264 ppi, Apple's official site wrote. The tablet is powered by an A8X chip with 64‑bit architecture and an M8 motion coprocessor. The iPad Air 2 is available in 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB memory capacities. It also runs using the latest iOS 8.

Tech Radar speculated that the Galaxy Tab S2 will be sold starting at $399 The iPad Air 2, in contrast, has a starting price of $499.

Release Date

REM claimed that the Galaxy Tab S2 could be announced this coming June, with a release scheduled in July 2015.
