On Wednesday, Samsung held their Galaxy Note 2 US launch in New York City. However, the event was much different than original Samsung events as it was not streamed live and details was scarce leading up to the event. The event did feature rapper Kanye West.

Now on Thursday, Microsoft will debut the Windows 8, also in New York City from Pier 57 by 15th Street.

As CNET's Roger Chang summarized, "Windows 8 represents a wholesale change in the user experience, relying on live tiles and a more touch-friendly interface than previous iterations."

Microsoft is also promoting an introduction to the Surface tablet.

The event begins at 11:15 a.m. EDT and is posted to end by 3 p.m.
