If Beyonce and Jay Z are indeed making a joint album, it makes sense for them to release them on Tidal, the streaming service released by the rapper and his friends last month.

And so, rumors of the power couple releasing a much-anticipated musical collaboration on the said channel should not come as a big surprise. This is especially considering that Tidal appears to be struggling revenue-wise. The service could definitely use such a huge publicity boost to add to its appeal.

News of the said release came through Fuse host DJ Skee, who is also chairman of Skeematic, a digital media firm. On Wednesday, he said that the mega-couple's album is "nearing completion" and will be exclusively launched on Tidal, Mashable said.

DJ Skee also is the same person who hinted that the rapper and his Queen B is working on a joint album in the fall last year.

"It's possible he has a direct line to a member of Jay and Bey's entourage who is feeding him this intel. But keep in mind that Beyoncé was able to release her surprise album without a single soul suspecting it was in the works, so the Knowles-Carters are old pros when it comes to assembling secret LPs," Business Insider said.

DJ Skee had also revealed that Jay Z had previously tried to stage an exclusive album release in the past but "backfired when the album leaked online, making it easier for fans to pirate the music than it was to obtain it legally."

However, that may change with the presence of Tidal, which is a paid streaming service. And this strategy may just be the breath of fresh air that the service needs.

Weeks after Tidal's launch, the service has slipped out of the App Store's top 700 downloads chart. As such, Kanye West, one of those who joined forces with Jay Z in launching the service, has removed the channel's logo from his Twitter account at some point, Yahoo! Finance said Thursday.

"He then seemed to see the PR error of his ways and Tweeted about Tidal early this morning," the news outlet added.

Also, Tidal had reportedly "laid off 25 employees last Friday including the man who founded the company, Andy Chen."

"Tidal has yet to catch on, perhaps because it hasn't done much to differentiate itself from its competition (aside from costing more than services like Spotify)," Business Insider observed.

However, Yahoo! Music executive editor Dave DiMartino said that the service may edge out the competition with exclusive content, which Tidal has tried to introduce in the first few weeks since its launch. And which it will probably pull off with Bey and Jay Z's album, if one is indeed going to be released. No confirmation has been made about the launch of the alleged record.
