Staring at last place in the Group of D, Manchester City and Ajax Amsterdam may play one of the most interesting matches of the day.

Man City got off to a disappointing start to their UCL campaign as they dropped a 3-2 decision to Real Madrid at the Bernabeau. They took a firm 2-1 lead with 5 minutes to play but two quick goals from Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo in the 87th and 90th minute were the difference between 3 points and 0 points for the English side. But that was not the end of it. Tasked with taking on Borussia Dortmund at home they failed to generate offense and relied on keeper Joe Hart to save them from more frustration. They got lucky with a last minute penalty that controversial Mario Balotelli finished and earned them a single point. However, the premier League champs have looked unprepared for the UCL and face a crucial battle with Ajax. They have not been beaten in the Premier League, but their three draws have kept them four points behind Chelsea for first place in the English League. They will be without David Silva in this one.

Ajax is facing an uphill climb if they cannot produce a win against Manchester City at home on Wednesday. They lost a tough 1-0 match to Borussia Dortmund on an 87th minute goal after playing strong defense throughout the match. They then imploded against Real Madrid with 4 goals against, including a hat trick from Cristiano Ronaldo. The Dutch squad is undefeated in the Eredivisie but has only obtained four wins in 9 matches. The five draws have hurt their standing (4th place) as they are five points behind first place. More importantly, they have only one match in their last four in the Dutch League and none since losing 4-1 to Real Madrid.

Prediction:  Manchester City should win this though it will not be easy. 2-1 Man City.
