Salma Hayek has been making news in social media today because of her recent video where it featured her eating bugs, Latin Times revealed.

The kind of bug that was featured in Hayek's video was a spicy grasshopper or what they call as "Chapulines", the site mentioned. They may look disgusting for some but this kind of delicacy is pretty popular in Oaxaca, Mexico.

Salma even posted a clearer shot of the crickets on Instagram.

It's also easy to prepare this dish. These insects are caught and collected using a net, cleaned and then cooked. Latin Times notes that these insects can be fried or toasted with a mixture of chili, lime and garlic to enhance its flavor.

And just like what's seen in Hayek's video, anyone keen on eating them can just crunch them one by one. The insects are also reportedly best eaten with tacos and guacamole, notes Latin Times.

Eating insects is not strange to Salma Hayek. Years ago, People revealed the actress' unusual liking to anything that crawls. The website cited her as saying, "Look, I'm salivating. They're delicious."

In an interview with David Letterman, the actress shared her thoughts about consuming insects. "These little ants fried are amazing with a little guacamole," she explained.

"And the worms, there are many different recipes for those. The little grasshoppers have a smoky flavor to them. It's the way they cook them, and it's really good," Hayek added.

Hayek also mentioned that "cooking up these savory treats can be a struggle."

Apart from the Latin actress, there are other celebrities who are reported to be fascinated with insects as well, like Angelina Jolie's sons Maddox and Pax and Zac Efron, The Daily Beast reported.

According to Angelina Jolie, her boys love to eat crickets, "They ate them like Doritos." She herself had a taste of them and compared it to potato chips. When asked about why she tolerated her children's fondness for crickets she said, "I wanted them not to be turned off by something that was of their culture."

"Scorpion on toast? No problem! It's really good," Zac Efron said, referring to the "exotic foods". Like Hayek and Jolie, Efron is fond of insects as well, and finds them delicious.
