The mega-bout between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao is set on May 2, 2015, which will be the richest boxing match in the history of the sport.

The two fighters are set to earn a combined fight purse of about $300 million. New York Times reported that Manny Pacquiao will immediately be paid a portion of his share the day after the fight.

Bob Arum, Pacquiao's promoter, said, "On Monday morning (May 4), I will hand Manny a check for $50 million as down payment, guaranteed."

On the other hand, Leonard Ellerbe, Mayweather Promotions chief executive, also said that his fighter will be paid a huge portion of his allotted share immediately after the match.

Ellerbe said, "I will tell you this. Floyd Mayweather's check will be a lot more than $50 million. And then it goes from there."

Based on the same report by New York Times, the two champions will split the fight purse 60-40, with Mayweather getting the lion's share. After all the accounting, each should receive at least $100 million, which is the biggest that they will ever get in their successful professional careers. CNBC reported that Mayweather is guaranteed $120 million while Pacquiao is guaranteed $80 million. Regardless of the outcome, Mayweather is set to earn more in one day compared to what any other athlete has ever made in one year.

The money will be paid to Pacquiao via wire transfer, with 30 percent of the amount going to the Internal Revenue Service.

Detroit Free Press reported that new estimates in March 2015 showed that Mayweather could easily earn $180 million from the bout, while Pacquiao will still get over $100 million.

Bob Arum said, "For whatever it's worth, the buildup over these years has certainly enhanced the fight. Everybody knows about it now, even people who don't follow boxing. Plus we have a good economy, unlike in 2009 when people were out of work and didn't have the money to spend."

Tickets at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas are reportedly priced from $1,500 to $7,500. For the general public, tickets have become very rare as the fight draws closer. According to Arum, the gate at MGM Grand will be over $72 million, $35 million will be earned from foreign rights to televise the fight while $10 million will come from sponsorships. The pay-per-view rate is expected to be $100, with over 3 million homes expected to purchase.

Meanwhile, let's watch TV show host Jimmy Kimmel sing Pacquiao's reported walkout song.
