Five months after Google rolled out Android Lollipop 5.0, the update has finally reached LG G3 handsets via major telecom companies, with AT&T being the first to bring the said update to the G3.

"The over the air update is 689.53MB in size and rolled out to G3 owners as of February 10," Digital Trends said.

AT&T is not the only carrier to facilitate the installment of Lollipop in LG's existing flagship smartphones. Sprint has also declared that G3s tied to Sprint plans is now "primed and ready to receive Android 5.0."

Further, Verizon has also announced it has made the Android 5.0 update available on the G3 starting April.

"Likely rolling out over the next few days, Lollipop brings changes such as Smart Lock, enhanced system notifications and screen pinning. The phone also sees an overall UI refresh," CNET noted. "It could take a few days for your G3 to notify you when it's ready to install."

If your G3 is locked in to Verizon and you want to get that Lollipop update sooner than expected, CNET advised you can "get it through the VS98523B update through the VZW Software Upgrade Assistant."

"Do note, however, this only works with Windows-based PCs," the tech news site added.

Notably, Verizon's rollout is merely 2 weeks away from LG's impending unveiling of the LG G4, which is the successor to the G3. The new product's launch will reportedly be on April 28.

Another carrier, T-Mobile, has promised that it will get the G3 to join the Lollipop party by April 7.

Meanwhile, Tech Times reported that some G3 owners who were able to upgrade their units to Android 5.0 Lollipop encountered a number of issues, such as "battery drain, slow charging, Wi-Fi issues and other bugs."

However, it appears not all G3 users were affected by the said glitches.

"Some users are reporting improvements on their phones and are happy with the update. Others, however, are having significant performance issues," the site went on to say.

"In some cases, these problems can be solved or improved by performing a factory reset on the phone, which many users of various smartphones and phablets that have been upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop recommend as a good way to solve various upgrade issues," Tech Times advised.
