Tuah, a baby orangutan, is getting a lot of attention at Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Yahoo reported that Bobbi Gordon became the surrogate mother of the now five-month-old-monkey after its mother, Eve, a Bornean orangutan, died just a few weeks after delivery. Tuah's father, Eli, died of cancer in September 2014. Eli made a reputation for being able to predict the winner of the Super Bowl for seven straight years.

The spikey-haired Tuah currently stands 14 inches, weighs 11 pounds and is learning how to crawl.

Around 9,000 visitors came to the zoo on April 11, 2015, some wearing "I met Tuah" buttons. According to Erica Hansen, Hogle Zoo's community relations coordinator, there were more people on Saturday than the crowd they usually have on most days in April.

Based on a report by Fox News, Bobbi Gordon is one of many primate handlers who offered care for the baby orangutan 24 hours a day.

Gordon said, "We lived like an orangutan. It was exhausting."

Baby orangutans normally cling to their mother all the time, so he had to cling to a human being, even while sleeping, after his mother died. A vest made with old fleece jackets was made to copy an orangutan's fur. Zookeepers had to wear the vest alternately and crawl in hay, with Tuah holding on to them the entire time.

Tuah's older sister, Acara, was trained by zookeepers to develop her maternal instincts so she can substitute humans and take care of the baby orangutan. Acara will turn 10 months old in May. Acara already knows how to be gentle and was taught how to pick up a baby animal as well as feed him. Tuah met Acara when he was three months old and the two have lived together full time now. Gordon said that orangutans are very intelligent and a lot easier to train compared to other primates.

The Salt Lake Tribune reported that Hogle Zoo is inviting visitors to bring gifts for Tuah if they like. Visitors who come to see the baby orangutan can join making kids' crafts, take photos, learn lessons on endangered species and paint their faces.

Hansen said, "With orangutans endangered in the wild, Hogle Zoo is hoping to educate guests on the plight of these magnificent creatures, what the zoo is doing to help and offer tips and ideas for how zoo guests here in Salt Lake City, can help orangutans in Asia."
