After "Maleficent" and "Cinderella," Disney will be releasing a live-action film version of yet another hit animated flick from its collection, "Mulan."

"Disney has ordered a script for a live-action take on the tale of Hua Mulan, the hero of Disney's 1998 animated film.Disney bought a script by writing team Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek that centers on the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan, the female warrior who was the main character in Disney's 1998 animated film," The Hollywood Reporter said. "Chris Bender and J.C. Spink (We're the Millers) are producing the new project."

Aside from trilogies and reboots, it appears live-action retellings have become the trend in movie making these days. Well, as far as Disney, Marvel, and DC Comics are concerned, that is.

The 1998 animated flick, which raked in $304 million globally, had rearned Oscar and Golden Globe nominations, had "seen a resurgence in popularity thanks to her appearance on the TV show 'Once Upon a Time,'" according to MTV. These facts apparently make the film a viable candidate for a live-action re-issue.

"Mulan" is based on a Chinese folktale character who, despite being a young woman, enlists in the army in her father's place disguised as a man.

"With the help of her trusty dragon sidekick Mushu, she becomes a skilled warrior and, eventually, one of the country's greatest heroines," THR added.

Not much information has been released about the upcoming film, including casting or launch date. Perhaps more details will be announced in the next few months.

Aside from "Mulan," Disney has already lined up a live-action version of "Beauty and the Beast," with Emma Watson and Dan Stevens cast in the lead roles, respectively. There's also a live-action "Dumbo" down the pipeline, as well as a new version of "The Jungle Book" and a follow up to "Alice in Wonderland."

"Disney has been on a roll with its live-action versions of its classic animated films," THR noted. "'Cinderella,' starring Lily James, has earned $336.2 million worldwide to date since hitting theaters three weeks ago. In 2010, the reimagined 'Alice in Wonderland' grossed a staggering $1.02 billion and when 'Maleficent,' starring Angelina Jolie as the iconic villainess, opened in May 2014, it went on to earn a stunning $758.4 million worldwide."

In the wake of this announcement, fans of the Disney princess may begin the debate on who should play the female warrior. Will the live-action version follow the original Disney storyline? That remains to be seen.
