Despite the raunchy film "Fifty Shades of Grey" reaping $550 million in box office revenues worldwide, "Game of Thrones" actress Emilia Clarke did not regret turning down the starring role offered to her.

"She also was, presumably, the only 'GOT' actor approached to play Dakota Johnson's role in 'Fifty Shades of Grey'," The Hollywood Reporter noted, "although she was curious enough to take two meetings with director Sam Taylor-Johnson."

So, why did she turn the project down?

"I'd done nudity before and was concerned with being labeled for doing it again," she simply told THR, without elaborating on her answer.

"Clarke -- who has appeared nude on Broadway as well as in several episodes of Game of Thrones before stipulating that she won't do that again -- was simply uncomfortable with appearing naked onscreen (in what would end up being a large portion of the movie)," IGN explained.

She, however, joked of the fact that there is a lot of nudity on the popular HBO show.

"There are other women who remove items of clothing on our show, so they've kind of got my nipple count down now," she said in the exclusive interview, which will be featured in the latest issue of The Hollywood Reporter, of which she is the cover girl.

Fortunately for the actress, her upcoming movie, "Terminator: Genisys," in which she stars as Sarah Connor, did not require her to disrobe.

Perhaps some "Game of Thrones" fans may find her rejection of the Anastasia Steele role a wise move. Some may be wondering whether she would have done a better job of the book character's portrayal. Needless to say, it can be said that Emilia may be steering clear of roles requiring much skin exposure considering that much of her recent body of work had involved a lot of that. Perhaps "Genisys" will pave her a new, nudity-less path in the movie industry.

Recently, the "Fifty Shades" director had officially confirmed that she won't be returning to helm the sequel of the movie.

"While I will not be returning to direct the sequels, I wish nothing but success to whosoever takes on the exciting challenges of films two and three," she said in a statement sent to Deadline.

It has been rumored that her creative differences with "Fifty Shades" author E.L. James had played a significant role in the director's decision not to return. This, however, was not mentioned in the filmmaker's statement.
