The Moto G has been hailed as one of the best budget smartphones out in the market, with its stunning features at a value-for-your-money price range. Even as a second generation model of the handset had already been release, the 1st generation still doesn't do shabbily even today, despite the absence of a microSD slot.

"If you're even considering springing for a Moto G, stop thinking and just do it," Engadget's review read. "Is the G the best phone you can buy? No, it's not. You won't win any National Geographic competitions with the camera, and the amount of on-board storage is a concern when there's no microSD expansion slot"

"The carefully built handset is a great all-rounder, with particular credit going to the 720p display and hardware performance," it continued. "The Moto G is quite simply the best phone on the market in its price range."

Considering Moto G's already low price point, Motorola pushed the envelope further by lowering it even more - for a limited time only.

"From now until 10:59 a.m. CT on Wednesday, March 25th (tomorrow), you can pick up a 1st Generation Moto G with LTE support for only $159.99," Android Authority said. "Considering you'll get a plethora of solid specifications and a $40 discount, we'd say this is a pretty great deal."

With this deal, you're getting the following specs, as noted by the site: a 4.5-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720, a quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, an Adreno 305 GPU backed by 1GB of RAM, a 5MP rear-facing camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera, and 8GB of on-board storage that can be expanded up to 32GB.

Although this model is still on Android 4.4 KitKat, it will soon get an Android 5.0 Lollipop update in the next couple of weeks.

This is not the first time that the first gen Moto G has been sold at such low price points. In December last year, the 2014 Moto G was included in the Amazon Gold Box deal, sold at just $149. However, the deal was only valid on "the unlocked US GSM and global GSM versions of the device, and includes both black and white color variants," according to Android Central.

The handset again figured in a Valentine's Day promo for US consumers earlier this year, although the deal also involved purchasing other products.
