Johnny Manziel Out of Rehab, Back as Browns QB in April; Russell Wilson Signing New Contract With Seahawks

Johnny Manziel is set to return to the Cleveland Browns while Russell Wilson may be set to re-sign with the Seattle Seahawks.

Yahoo! Sports reported that Johnny Manziel is expected to be out of rehab in April and participate in the team's practices immediately. According to Mike Pettine, coach of the Browns, the team garnered positive feedback about their quarterback during rehab. Although there is no definite time when Manziel will exit the facility, the team will commence training on April 20.

Pettine said in the same Yahoo! Sports report, ''When he is back, it will be full speed ahead for him. I think he's very anxious at this point.''

He added, ''Football, it's a back seat. For his football life to get it where it needs to be, he needs to get the personal life where it needs to be. This takes precedence, so however long of time he needs, the football will be there when he gets out.''

In an ESPN report, Manziel's return was also one of the main reasons why the Browns decided not to be featured on the HBO reality TV show "Hard Knocks". Pettine said that the team discussed all the matters concerned with being on the show and finally settled that the show could impact the team, especially with Manziel's current rehab treatment. "Hard Knocks" might be an unneeded distraction for both the coach and players.

As for the Seattle Seahawks, ESPN also reported that John Schneider, general manager of the team, stated on March 23, 2015 that the team expects to settle a contract extension for quarterback Russell Wilson.

Schneider said, "Russell is a guy that wants to win championships for a long time. He has a good understanding of the business. That being said, we are basically in what we call Phase 2 of free agency. His people are aware that we want to help out our club as much as we can."

Schneider added that the team hopes to come up with an agreement with Wilson which would be similar to the deals made in the 2014 offseason involving cornerback Richard Sherman and free safety Earl Thomas.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, however, reported that it is unlikely that the Seahawks and Wilson will come to terms immediately. It might take until 2016 before the two sides finally reach an agreement. In the meantime, Wilson will continue training as hard as he always does and up his value in the coming season.
