Recent updates have been revealed with regard to the upcoming Presidential Election 2016 where Republican Texan Senator Ted Cruz officially declared his candidacy to become America's head of all states.

To those who are not aware about the life and the achievements of the Senator, here are some basic facts and events associated to Mr. Ted Cruz:

Cruz was born in Calgary, Canada and was raised in Houston, Texas.

He was raised by a Cuban father, Rafael Cruz who allegedly fought alongside with Castro's rebels during the latter's reign where Cruz's father experienced being beaten up, jailed and eventually escaped. The latter then migrated to Austin.

Cruz was the 34th U.S. Senator from Texas elected in 2012. He is known to be a passionate fighter for limited government, economic growth, and the Constitution. He won from a decisive victory in both the Republican primary and the general election, despite having no experiences in holding an office.

While in Princeton, he was included in the debate team, won the "Speaker of the Year" award, and eventually graduated with honors. He also graduated from Harvard Law School with high honors.

Meanwhile, Cruz's mother was born in Delaware with Irish-Italian decent.

Ted Cruz launched his presidential campaign just after 27 months in the senate office.

According to Blogs Roll Call, he is also known for his very outspoken attitude which may have provoked political enemies in the Senate. He even fiercely called out some Republican senators "squishes" regarding an issue of gun control.

According to some, Cruz may have inherited his "melodramatic style" from his father who is currently an evangelical pastor and renowned speaker.

Cruz married Heidi and has two daughters with her, Caroline and Catherine. The family is permanently residing in Houston, Texas.

Senator Cruz was the first ever Latin American to clerk for the Chief Justice of the United States.

Moreover, he took the advantage of social media in declaring his candidacy through Twitter. On Cruz's video post, a statement was also embedded saying,

"It's a time for truth, a time to rise to the challenge, just as Americans have always done," I believe in America and her people, and I believe we can stand up and restore our promise. It's going to take a new generation of courageous conservatives to help make America great again. And I'm ready to stand with you to lead the fight."

Cruz was hoping that through the video, he will be able to convince the American voters.
