Derek Fisher recently filed for divorce from his wife of 10 years, Candace.

TMZ reported that on February 19, 2015, Fisher and his wife celebrated their decade anniversary where the New York Knicks coach praised his wife, saying that she is so beautiful and the love of his life.

"There are people in your life that are specifically designed, by God, to bring you closer to what your life is truly meant to be @mrsladyfish #myrib is that one person," Fisher previously wrote in a Facebook post.

He posted, "She has changed the way I view life and what's most important to me. Life would not be the same without my queen. PERIOD!!!"

The coach continued, "Happy Anniversary honey! Our best lives are ahead of us! Let's GO!!! #itpouredrainonourweddingday #wetknot #westucktogether #myrib #blessedlife #beautifulwife."

However, barely a month later on March 18, Fisher himself filed the divorce papers in a Los Angeles court. There are no details yet as to the reason the two suddenly had a change of heart in such a short span of time. Fisher did not divulge the full details but only expressed that he hopes that people respect their privacy throughout the ordeal.

Fisher issued a statement in a report by New York Post, "This is a difficult time for me personally. For the sake of our children, I ask that everyone respects our privacy during this process."

MadameNoire reported that the divorce is expected to go smoothly. Derek is asking that they split legal costs as well as share joint legal and physical custody over their twins.

The couple got married on February 19, 2005 and have two children together, twins Tatum and Drew. Both have children from previous relationships. Fisher is a devout Christian and is very open about his faith, saying that he believes that his strong belief in God gives him the ability to play great basketball.

Fisher is currently in his first season as head coach of the Knicks, serving under the tutelage of Knicks president Phil Jackson. He spent most of his years in the NBA playing with the Los Angeles Lakers. He took on the position of point guard and was a key element in the championship-winning Lakers, which also consisted of Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal. He was coached by Jackson when the Lakers won five championships.
