There are rumors that the iPod Touch sixth-generation may never come out.

Christian Post reported that for years, Apple fans have been talking about the release of the sixth-gen iPod Touch. However, talks have also started that it may never surface after the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were introduced without any news of an upcoming iTouch. During the Apple Spring Forward Event on March 16, 2015, Apple still did not mention the device.

The fifth-generation iPod Touch model was released in September 2012 and stocks immediately became available a month after. The last device features a 4-inch Retina display, a 5-MP camera, a looped wrist strap, and a faster dual core A5 chip. Despite the impressive upgrades the new product presented, sales of the iPod Touch 5 went down in the past few years as more customers preferred to avail of smartphones which offered practically everything the iTouch can offer and more.

Crossmap reported that a possible good reason why Apple decided to postpone the release of the iTouch 6 is the high popularity of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Apple will have a couple more launch events in 2015, so users can anticipate these dates to determine whether the company will finally launch the new model or come up with another kind of gadget altogether.

According to Apple fans, the sixth-generation iPod Touch may be released in September 2015, together with the iPhone 7, or never. If a new device will be available, it will expectedly feature a wide array of colors. The display may be around 5.5 inches, with a resolution of 1280x 720 pixels and a pixel density count of 440ppi. The latest version may also have an 8-MP iSight camera and a 1.5-MP front facing camera. The price may be $299 for a 32GB model while the 64GB version will retail at $399.

Based on the same report by Crossmap, the sixth-generation iPod Touch may feature two display sizes - 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches. It will have features similar to the iPhone 6, except for the call feature. The new device may include an A9 processor, Siri, Apple Play, iAssistant, and several apps that will make it a complete entertainment system. VCPost reported that the new version may also feature an iPod Touch Plus and run on iOS 8.3.

Despite the popularity of the iPhone, there are still users who prefer to have a separate device for their music, videos, photos, and games. The iPod touch sixth-generation will provide for these sufficiently.
