Since the call of Sir Elton John to boycott fashion designers Dolce & Gabbana due to their "insensitive and judgmental" remarks pointing to the singer's children as "synthetic", more and more stars showed their support by backing up Elton John's outrage shown in his Instagram post.
During a runway show organized by D&G showcasing pregnant mothers, the designers apparently shared their view about in vitro fertilization (IVF) in an interview with Panorama. The two shared their insights on the matter saying "No to chemical children: life has a natural course, there are things that shouldn't be modified," Fox News reported.
Due to statements, Sir Elton John reacted negatively and was no doubt offended by the designers' remarks, resulting to a slapping post saying:
"How dare you refer to my beautiful children as 'synthetic'. And shame on you for wagging you judgmental little fingers at IVF - a miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay; to fulfil their dream of having children. Your archaic thinking is out of step with the times, just like your fashions. I shall never wear Dolce and Gabbana ever again. #BoycottDolceGabbana."
The singer eventually started the famous hashtag that is circulating in Twitter which is now used by thousands of people in their tweets.
Public personalities such as Ricky Martin, Al Roker, Coutrney Love-Cobain, Ryan Murphy, Pompiduo, Victoria Beckham, Sharon Stone, Matt Lucas and many others were very vocal in showing their support to Elton John by defending the singer through their tweets, noted Sky News.
Ricky Martin posted, "@dolcegabbana ur voices R 2powerfull 2B spreading so much h8 https://bit.ly/1CiY63B Wake up,Its 2015 Luv urselves guys #boycottdolcegabbana"
Courtney Love Cobain said, "Just round up all my Dolce & Gabbana pieces, I want to burn them. I'm just beyond words and emotions. Boycott senseless bigotry! #boycottD&G"
Martina Navratilova shared, "My D&G shirts are going in the bin - don't want ANYONE to wear them."
Victoria Beckham also let out a tweet reading, "Sending love to Elton David Zachary Elijah & all the beautiful IVF babies"
Even LGBT chief executive Ruth Hunt expresses her support during an interview with Sky News saying "We strongly dispute the comments made by Dolce and Gabbana. Being a good parent has nothing to do with sexual orientation or whether a child has two mums or two dads. The important is a loving family, whatever its make up."
