The Portuguese football star has proved himself that he's not only good in the pitch but he's also doing well in social media charts such as Facebook and Twitter. Just yesterday, Cristiano Ronaldo was hailed as the most liked Sports Star in the world, bagging the first spot for the highest number of Facebook likes, Caughtoffside News reported.

Ronaldo is now getting ahead of pop star singer Shakira with 107,096,356 likes, five thousand likes higher than Shakira's 107,087,100.

Fellow football athletes have shared spots on the charts as well such as Lionel Messi with 78 million likes and David Beckham with 52 million.

So far in world sports history, Cristiano made it to the top spot at the age of 30. Throughout his football career, he has received multiple MVP awards, multiple endorsements from multi-billion labels and even dated the prettiest models.

Apart from Facebook, he also managed to be one of the leading followed personalities on Twitter, according to Daily Mail. Being on the 13th spot is a great deal for an athlete, especially for someone who is not on the limelight all the time.

Unfortunately, Cristiano's glory on social media is not as glorious as Real Madrid's team standing on the pitch. Currently, the team is behind its long-time rival, FC Barcelona, headed by star player Messi. The Facebook star, however, refused to comment on the matter and will be waiting when the tournament ends, Daily Mirror reported.

Remembering the latest World Cup Tournament, Cristiano hasn't made a name either when Portugal was eliminated and was not included in the semis. It's very unlikely for him to have not received any special awards when people are used to seeing him on the stage with medals and trophies.

Apparently, that does not affect Ronaldo's fame and popularity online. With too many shoe endorsements and commercials, he still is one of the most sought-after athletes in the world and one of the highest paid sportsman in football history.
