Warner Bros. is apparently not content with how the 2011 "Green Lantern" flick went down, considering that a new movie version featuring the same titular character will be re-issued in 2020. Understandably, Ryan Reynolds won't be starring in that project. So, who'll fill in his shoes?

Chris Pine, according to the rumor mill.

According to ScreenRant, word has it that the name heard "floating around" for the Hal Jordan role is that of the "Star Trek" actor's.

"This bit of gossip might be disappointing for fans who were hoping to see the John Stewart version of Green Lantern, or one of the others, taking the lead in the movie," the site speculated. "It's always possible, however, that the reboot could end up featuring more than one Green Lantern, in the same way that upcoming Marvel release Ant-Man will include both Hank Pym and Scott Lang."

"After all, the 2011 movie already introduced Green Lantern so Warner Bros. could potentially skip the origin story this time," it added.

Meanwhile, IGN mused that if Chris is indeed cast as the Green Lantern, he could "make a cameo in 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,' which opens next March."

"Green Lantern is expected to be in the lineup of the two-part Justice League movie before starring in his own solo movie/reboot slated for 2020," IGN said.

According to Den of Geek, it was Latino Review's Umberto El-Mayimbe Gonzalez, via his Instagram account, who broke the news about Chris being tipped to play the DC Comics superhero.

"The name I keep hearing & floating around, is Chris Pine for Hal Jordan. Yes, Captain Kirk. Again, this is still just a RUMOR hence UNCONFIRMED. Been hunting this one for a while so the search is still ongoing. How do you guys feel about it, IF again a big IF, it is indeed true?" Gonzales's post read.

The site noted that Latino Review has a "touch and go" track record when it comes to leaks like this. However, it "occasionally lands a notable bullseye."

We'll know more in good time. Nothing has been confirmed by Warner Bros. as of this time.

Previously, hip-hop artist Common was tapped to play the Green Lantern for a "Justice League" project at some point in the past. However, that project was apparently shelved.

Despite this, Common said he's still up for the job.

"I would love to be John Stewart and play Green Lantern. That was one of those things where I was so excited because we rarely see African-American superheroes or people of color as a superhero," he told ScreenRant in an interview.
