Uruguay has not won a qualifier since June against Peru. In that span they were destroyed 4-0 in Colombia, drew 1-1 with Ecuador, and lost 3-0 to Argentina. Their poor play has placed them in fourth place in the CONMEBOL standings. However, with 12 points they have Chile tied with them and Venezuela breathing down their necks with 11 points.

Fortunately, Luis Suarez and company get to take on a weak Bolivian side in what could be the turning point for their qualification. Just one year removed from a Copa America 2011 victory in Argentina, this team was not expected to struggle defensively or offensively as they have. They have scored 15 goals in eight matches but only one has come in the last three matches. In that span they have allowed eight of their 14 goals against. They are currently among the top five worst defensive teams in the CONMEBOL through the World Cup Qualifiers.

With just eight matches and 24 possible points, Bolivia is starting to see its World Cup hopes fade away. They only have 5 points and have only obtained victory once; against a fading Paraguay squad. Otherwise this team has been bad with only eight goals for and 13 against. This is however a team that was able to tie Argentina in Buenos Aires and playing at home may help them shut down an anemic Uruguayan squad. They may be able to take advantage of the altitude in La Paz against an Uruguayan squad that may have trouble dealing with it.

Prediction: Uruguay is better than they are playing. They finally win for the first time since June. 2-0.
