Earlier this week, 5 Seconds of Summer tweeted "#5ONTHEWALL" - a hashtag that mystified fans and some social media users.

"After a few moments of Internet research, fans learned it was a website," Fuse saod. "The page showed the first photo and a fuzzy television screen."

Apparently, the boys like to keep themselves busy, as this trend came on the heels of their Japan gig. You'd think they were going to take a little break and chill out. Well, they did just that, but they also shared what they did in their spare time with their fans.

"For a few seconds, a video played without sound, filmed backstage in a green room in Tokyo. The band dance around, they write notes, they take off their pants," the site went on to describe the video. "The silent clip was taken down, but as we know about the Internet, once it's up, it's up."

Was the clip just a gag or was it to introduce new music? After all, they appeared to be jumping about to some music in the video. Could it be one of their upcoming singles?

Right now, the band has not yet issued an explanation for the odd video. Which means the boys probably put up that clip in sheer fun. Or was it their way of keeping the 5SOS buzz going?

Whatever it was, it delighted the band's fans, as MTV observed.

"There was a ton of hair mussing and fussing (looking at you, Luke) and lots of silly dancing," the music channel noted. "Needless to say, 5SOS fans were totally smitten and loved every second of it."

"I feel like I just spent ten minutes with the @5SOS boys. this made my day #5ONTHEWALL," tweeted one fan.

"this made my homework filled day x1021033457497520 time better thanks <3

#5ONTHEWALL #vote5sos #kca," @whatsairwin's post said.

"The highlight for 5SOS fans would no doubt be when the bands guitarist and drummer surprised viewers by dropping their pants down around their ankles and dancing in front of the camera," MailOnline cheekily pointed out.

The boys - Luke Hemmings, Calum Hood, and Ashton Irwin - were recently spotted landing at LAX airport from Tokyo, where the 10-minute clip was supposedly recorded. Bandmate Michael Clifford was nowhere in sight, though. They hit a milestone by headlining their own show for the very first time, albeit in Japan.

The boys will be playing in Australia May and June, which is when they will start their Aussie tour.

"Before they head home they will be play gigs across Europe in May," MailOnline said. "And with their huge success over in the States 5SOS have gigs booked for Canada and the States during the later part of this year."
