The 2015 MWC may not be over yet but a number of gadgets showcased at the event appeared to top this year's batch of mobile tech innovations.

Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge

This duo was one of the highlights of this year's Mobile World Congress, with the S6 Edge's dual curved screen proving to be one innovation that mobile gadget makers should look out for and take inspiration from.

"Both devices are impressive in many aspects, and the consensus among journalists is that they're a big step ahead from last year's Galaxy S5," Mashable noted.

As such, it was no surprise that the Galaxy S6 won in the Phones & Tablets category at the MWC, as noted by Business Wire.

HTC Vive

This is another winner, notching the Best of Show citation at the 2015 MWC. According to Jeffrey Van Camp of Digital Trends, this virtual reality device "is the most immersive, transformative virtual-reality experience I've ever had."

"The Vive is a totally new kind of virtual reality. I'd compare it to the difference between playing a 3D game and being inside one. Microsoft's HoloLens is the closest product to what Vive is going for, but even it may not compare," he went on to say. "Oculus Rift doesn't hold a candle to this."

This is down to the fact that the HTC Vive lets you literally walk about in 8 x 8 space that shows the features of the game or app you are using.

"The system tracked my movements so perfectly as I moved around, that I began to feel I was really somewhere else entirely," Van Camp observed.

LG Watch Urbane LTE

This smartwatch put one over the Huawei Watch, which caused a considerable stir at the event for being highly functional and classy at the same time, in the Wearables category. The ace in LG's smartwatch lies in the fact that it does not need to be connected to a smartphone for full functionality. Plus, it runs on its own OS, which is named WebOS.

"The LG Watch Urbane LTE requires no tethered device, and can essentially act as your only connected device if you felt compelled to leave your phone behind for whatever reason, Android Central said.

Further, according to Digital Trends, this watch is "designed to connect directly to your wireless carrier's network by itself, take calls, make calls and texts, and do other basic functions."

HP Spectre x360

The tablet/laptop combination is not new, but HP should be applauded for adopting this innovation into one of its products. "Combining lovely build quality and low price-like we've seen in the new Dell XPS 13-with the ability to backflip into a tablet, HP's new ultrabook looks like a promising go-to for transforming computers," Gizmodo said.

Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet

Ultra light, crisp display, super thin, and powerful - what more can you ask for from a tablet? Oh, and this one's waterproof and can be used with Sony's snap-on keyboard.
