While it certainly is good news that "The Walking Dead" season 5 finale will be stretched to 90 minutes instead of the usual 60, some fans of the show may be watching the episode on tenterhooks with the ominous feeling that Daryl Dixon may probably die with the end of the current season.

There have been speculations that the marksman may meet his end during the finale, thanks to the plot synopsis that hinted at the character getting into trouble during season 5's last episode, as noted by Cleveland.com.

"Daryl has seemed like a man apart so far this season. He has yet to fully recover from Beth's death. And if the finale is 90 minutes, someone is dying," the news outlet said. "Fan reaction to Daryl's possible death would be something along the lines of, 'If Daryl dies, we riot!'"

"Speculation about characters dying is nothing new. If all rumors came to fruition, Rick and Michonne might be the only two people left in the zombie apocalypse," the site added.

It is possible that Daryl might die soon, as the show's creator, Robert Kirkman, had repeatedly emphasized that no character is ever safe, as proven by the deaths of key characters Tyreese, Herschel, and Beth, iDigitalTimes observed.

Further, the comic book creator had also explicitly revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that Daryl indeed will die. With that, the character's death should not come as a shock to those following updates about the series closely.

"In our premiere episode of season 5 we're going to give a ton of answers of who the people of Terminus are, what they're doing, why they're doing it, what's going on with them," Robert said. "And by the end of that episode you're going to have a much better understanding of what's going on with them and why they're so important to the show. Oh, and Daryl dies."

Even and when Daryl does die, it appears that the series may hopefully go on to its seventh season, Robert added.

Also, Daryl has been on the show for so long and that he's not originally one of the characters of the comic books the series is based on. It could be said that it's about time that he moved on from the show. But there's nothing wrong keeping him on, either. Do you agree?

According to the International Business Times, it is possible that Daryl's death may be connected to his grief over Beth Greene's passing.

"Daryl shared a strong connection with Herschel Green's youngest daughter before she was kidnapped. He had tried everything he could to save her from the creepy Atlanta hospital but sadly failed in rescuing her alive," IBT recalled. "He was distraught at her sudden demise. This pain and sorrow may turn him into a weaker warrior in the zombie infected land and he could, perhaps lose it forever."

What say you about a Daryl-less "The Walking Dead"?
