Is Rihanna's new song a cut from her upcoming album "R8"?

Days after the official release of "FourFiveSeconds," a track from RiRi's yet-to-be-released album that features Kanye West and Paul McCartney, a second song from the Barbadian beauty was dropped just recently.

"However, the track is not a part of her hotly anticipated new album 'R8,'" Music Times clarified. "Instead, it's her contribution to the upcoming Dreamworks animated film 'Home.'"

The song, "Towards the Sun," begins with Rihanna singing the first few lines in a falsetto voice, which is quite uncharacteristic of her. It appears she's taken on the challenge of featuring more falsetto singing in this song than any other track she's done in the past.

"'Towards the Sun' showcases a more optimistic and brighter side of Rihanna than darker recent albums," Rolling Stone observed. "The track showcases the singer's falsetto on the epic, empowering pop tune."

The entertainment news source also noted that RiRi, who also stars in "Home" as the teenage girl who befriends an alien, "has penned an entire concept album based on the movie, but there is no word on whether that will be the film's actual soundtrack."

However, it appeared there were changes made to the soundtrack, with Rihanna shifting to a soundtrack curating role.

The soundtrack, which includes songs by Charli XCX, Jennifer Lopez and Kiesza, features a couple of songs from the "Diamonds" singer. Here's the track list, as noted by Spin:

1. "Red Balloon," Charli XCX

2. "Run to Me," Clarence Coffee Jr

3. "Dancing In the Dark," Rihanna

4. "Peaceful Holiday," James Clark

5. "Boov Death Song," Jim Parsons

6. "Towards the Sun," Rihanna

7. "As Real As You And Me," Rihanna

8. "Deck the Halls," The Platters

9. "Slushious," Stargate & Balkan Beat Box

10. "Only Girl (In the World)," Rihanna

11. "Cannonball," Kiesza

12. "Drop That," Rihanna

13. "Feel the Light," Jennifer Lopez

With RiRi's involvement in "Home," it appears she's not lifting her fingers out of the acting jar. It can be recalled that she "had a cameo in last year's 'Annie' remake and played herself in 2013's 'This Is the End' and 2006's 'Bring It On: All or Nothing,'" as noted by Rolling Stone. "In 2012, she had a role in Battleship alongside Taylor Kitsch, Liam Neeson and Alexander Skarsgard."

The "Home" soundtrack will be released on March 17, according to Complex. However, no confirmation has been made yet regarding the exact release date of Rihanna's upcoming solo album.
