In a day or so, the Year of the Horse will bow out and make way for the Year of the Sheep. If you're looking for ways to improve your fortunes in the coming year, these tips may just be the hints that will help you do that.
Wear Blue and White
According to Feng Shui guru Thierry Chow, in a Lifestyle Asia piece, blue and white colors should be worn to improve your luck in the Year of the Sheep. The Moscow Times also recommend wearing green, especially on Lunar New Year's Eve, as this is also an auspicious color, probably due to the fact that the coming year's dominant element is wood.
Be Charitable
"Focus on charity and humanitarian acts... the sheep will reward you," Fortune noted Feng Shui expert Doris Ingber as saying.
"This year's energy supports those who are humanitarian and lead from a team-building orientation," she also said.
Eat Greens
"Lucky foods are supposed to include herbs and salad greens - which the herbivorous sheep seems to favor," The Moscow Times said. "Other varieties of cheese are welcome on the menu too: The sheep seems to like dairy products, at least as far as astrologers can tell."
No to Ivy-Type Plants
"Avoid ivy-type plants," Chow advised. "Place plants such as bamboo, or plants with big leaves in the east corner, this will help boost career luck for 2015."
Go the Way of Peace
"Avoid direct confrontations... compromise and negotiation will achieve more than conflict," Ingber recommended.
This advice is supported by the premise that the sheep is "generally gentle, calm, and quiet by nature and is a source of many things that benefit humankind," The Epoch Times said.
Add Sunflowers and Pink Daisies to Your Home
These kinds of flowers can help you be lucky in relationships this year, particularly when you place these "in the northwest of your home," according to Chow.
No Cleaning on Lunar New Year's Day
Part of Chinese tradition and folklore is the belief that if you sweep out your home or do the laundry at the beginning of the new lunar year, you're driving out all the luck out of your abode. So, if you must clean, do it at least a day before. This also includes washing your hair.
Go for Wood Industries
Ingber said that wood industries will do well this year. So if you're thinking of going into business or shifting careers, make sure it is involved in one of the following: architecture, manufacturing with natural products, fashion, food, publications like newspapers, magazines and books, and education.
