Justice League Movie: Will Armie Hammer, The Lone Ranger Star, Don the Cowl?

Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy has come to an end, but Batman's cinematic legacy lives on.

Rumors suggest that The Lone Ranger star Armie Hammer will don the cowl in the upcoming Justice League film.Hammer, whose resume includes Mirror Mirror and The Social Network, was originally cast as Batman in the aborted Justice League of America (JLA) movie, set to be directed by George Miller.

Hammer reveals in an interview with MTV, "We had gotten a long way into pre-production. We were about to start shooting when the writer's strike happened at the end of 2007, and then the Australian government denied a 40% tax rebate that they thought they were going to have, so a lot of things just went wrong."

He adds, "It's unfortunate because the amount of work that was already done--I mean, they had finished pre-production and they were a couple of days away from starting to shoot, so it's a shame that nobody got to see all of the work that got put into it."

According to a "very good source" close to Moviehole, Hammer's is "atop of their list of potentials" for the Bruce Wayne role. Hammer's "reprisal" of the role would arrive at a choice time in the actor's career, as his film The Lone Ranger will likely garner a significant amount of attention upon its release. In Ranger, Hammer co-stars with Johnny Depp, who plays Tonto, in a Jerry Bruckheimer produced, Gore Verbinski directed film.

We know that Will Beall is the scribe of the current draft of the JLA script, but no official cast or crew announcements have been made. One important thing to note is that the Batman in the JLA movie may be portrayed by a different actor in the Batman franchise reboot.
