HTC One M8 users in the US are now finally getting a taste of the new Android L 5.0 Lollipop update. This as the Taiwanese firm announced that the update rollout starts Monday.

HTC One M8 T-Mobile subscribers are scheduled to get the official Lollipop update today. HTC Product Management Vice President Mo Versi himself made the announcement. "HTC One (M8) T-Mobile owners! Lollipop OS Technical Approval has been received! OTA to start on Monday. #HTCAdvantage," Versi tweeted on Friday.

Aside from T-Mobile subscribers, the Lollipop update has already been sent to Sprint subscibers who started receiving the new OS for their HTC One M8 devices last Friday. GSM Arena noted that the Sprint roll out was early as it was believed that the update would only come to its subscribers this week. However, remember that it is not guaranteed that all subscribers have already received it.

Sprint on its website emphasized that the "software updates may be released in stages and can take several days for delivery." HTC users who have been notified of receiving the update could proceed to downloading and installing it. Users could also check for updates manually. Just go to Settings, then to System updates, then to HTC software update, and finally tap Check Now.

The Lollipop update has also hit users in Canada last week, according to a tweet by HTC.

Earlier, HTC, through Versi, declared that it will not be able to fulfill its 90-day goal for the Lollipop update roll out. "We've been diligently working to fix some of them on our end and incorporating Google's fixes as quickly as possible, but despite everyone's best efforts some carrier versions of the HTC One (M8) and HTC One (M7) will not meet our 90 day goal, which is February 1st. While we are committed to delivering within this time period, we are even more committed to ensuring these updates result in an even better experience with your device because that is what the updates are intended to do," Versi said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Sony Xperia Z3 and Z2 users will have to wait a little longer to get the new update. Android Geeks reported that the roll out might even be moved to March, despite earlier reports saying it will come out February. Android Central even cited Sony Electronics COO Michael Fasulo in its report.

According to Xperia Blog, Vodafone Australia is still waiting for the Android 5.0 Lollipop update set for testing. Based on the table provided, it is expected to arrive in February. This then points to a March roll out.
