The "Silent Hills" playable teaser (PT) demo was converted into a horrific found footage film by YouTube user, GamebillStudio.
The playable teaser lasted under eight minutes but was more than sufficient to cause nightmares to thousands of "Silent Hills" fans who dared to hit play, based on a report by Bloody-Disgusting.
In the trailer, the YouTuber recommended that viewers wear their headphones and turn down the lights for the scariest experience.
IGN reported that at the start of the demo, players will find themselves in a small dark room and begin recording the experience via a video camera. There is an unlocked door where they should exit. They are advised to go around the corner and through the door at the end of the hall. Go down the stairs and go through the door at the base to enter the hallway again, starting a new "loop".
Players will hear a variety of spine-chilling sounds as they move through hallways and doors, such as a baby giggling, creaking noises and the suspenseful background music. At one point, viewers will move into a bathroom to pick up a flashlight then find a live aborted fetus on the sink crying. There will also be glimpses of a white ghost and a bloodied woman who may have been murdered with a bladed weapon and continues to haunt the halls.
In the walkthrough guide provided by IGN, there are six picture pieces to collect to complete the portrait on the wall above the clock. Pass through the loop four times, before picking up the flashlight in the bathroom, to locate these items. Zoom in using R3 to get the piece.
The puzzle in the end has been solved with the aid of gamers who spent hours on the PT. Hideo Kojima said in prior interviews that his development team expected gamers to solve the puzzle in no less than a week, but it seemed like "Silent Hills" fans were able to decode it in just a matter of hours.
In another IGN report, "Silent Hills" is a revival of the popular adventure horror game franchise made by Kojima Productions and published by Sony Computer Entertainment and Konami. The upcoming game was designed with input from Guillermo Del Toro and will star Norman Reedus. The game has a pending "RP-M+" rating, which targets mature audiences and above.
The release date for the PlayStation 4 game is yet to be announced, although there are talks that it will be out in 2016.
