"Condemned" producer and creator Jace Hall recently opened up about the possibility of a third game, hinting that he may be considering passing it on to a new development team, IGN reported.

Sega and Warner Bros.' survival horror franchise "Condemned" began with 2005's "Criminal Origins" for the Xbox 360 and PC, and was followed by a sequel game "Bloodshoot" on 2008 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Fans have been wondering about the possibility of another game to follow, but news has been scarce until recently when it seemed like the game was looking for a new home.

Hall, who currently own the entire franchise, talked about the game on a Facebook post released on Saturday. He said he was consistently being asked about when he planned to create a third game, but unfortunately he didn't have the time to work on it.

"Since I am focused on other things, and will be for quite some time, this franchise is just sitting there," he wrote. "I am contemplating finding an interested and proven Indie development team and PROVIDING IT TO THEM, so that they can take over the franchise and move it forward."

As for why he chose an indie studio over a big name one, Hall said that while most indie studios find it hard to get media attention for the games, the "Condemned" franchise is quite well known. It is also part of an innovative genre and has a high enough market demand that it could possibly help a smaller studio.

The "Condemned" franchise was celebrated for its delivery of psychological horror, puzzle solving games, forensic examination, mix of ranged and melee combat and a whole lot of crazy assailants, according to Den of Geek.

As such, it wasn't at all surprising to read the comments and see that fans were excited over the news that a third game could be in the works soon. Some also said they didn't mind having another team work on it instead of having the franchise just sit there.

As a fan commented, "As long as the team can produce 'Condemned' in a way that doesn't betray what the first one established and go into the dreaded Action-Horror genre, by all means make it happen."

Many comments are also pointing to the possibility of an HD remaster of the previous two games.

Given the delays, it's unknown when "Condemned 3" will be released, or if it will ever be. Then again, despite the fact that it's been more than five years since the last game, the franchise still seemed to have a bevy of loyal fans waiting for a new game to play. If Hall is looking for indie team, hopefully a studio picks up the franchise soon and make things happen for the fans.
