Lara Croft will be back on your consoles as the upcoming "Rise of the Tomb Raider" is expected to be released this year. Not only that, Cross Map has reported that gamers would definitely enjoy this new installment as Lara is expected to get new tricks and great new adventures.

"By now, she's no stranger to the old 'jump at a wall and stab your axe in at the last minute so as not to die' trick. But, we haven't seen her do that while hurling herself over what looks like a half-mile deep mountain chasm, after being chased off a cliff by a giant marauding bear," Cross Map reported citing Games Radar.

Cross Map adds that the storyline of the "Rise of the Tomb Raider" would be darker than the previous one. Crystal Dynamics already confirmed the 2015 arrival of "Rise of the Tomb Raider" last year. "In her first adventure, Lara Croft was forged into a true survivor, but she glimpsed a deeper, secret world...In the next chapter of her journey, Lara must use her survival skills and wits, learn to trust new friends, and ultimately accept her destiny as the Tomb Raider," it said.

There's more! Square Enix's Product Development and Western Studios head Darrell Gallagher was quoted by Cinema Blend saying that Lara would no longer just be confined in a tropical island as she can now travel across the world in the new installment.

"With the power of the new generation, and our proprietary Foundation engine, our high octane action moments will be even more epic. Multiple locations around the world will be filled with exploration spaces that are some of the most beautifully hostile places on earth and over three times larger than we could achieve before...Our digital actors will rival CG quality, and after hearing the cry from our fans loud and clear, we will put the tombs back into Tomb Raider, all in our gritty Survival-Action style," Gallagher said.

A recent report from Christian Today said that the release date of "Rise of the Tomb Raider" which is allegedly set for mid-December this year might be pushed a little later. However, it has not yet been confirmed. The game is said to be out in "Holiday 2015."

During the Gamescom press conference last year, it has been announced that the game would be exclusive to Xbox. However, Xbox boss Phil Spencer told Eurogamer that that "exclusivity" has some sort of "duration."

"I have Tomb Raider shipping next holiday exclusively on Xbox. It is Xbox 360 and Xbox One. I'm not trying to fake anybody out in terms of where this thing is. What they do with the franchise in the long run is not mine. I don't control it. So all I can talk about is the deal I have. I don't know where else Tomb Raider goes," Spencer was quoted as saying. "Yes, the deal has a duration. I didn't buy it. I don't own the franchise." He however did not divulged how long that duration is.
