Some Samsung Galaxy S4 users are already getting a taste of the new Android L 5.0 Lollipop update. Sam Mobile, a website dedicated to Samsung users, reported that S4 users in Russia have already started getting the new Android update.

The report said the update is rolling out on the Exynos variant of the handset. Note that these are the devices with model number GT-I9500. It urged S4 users to free up their memory space as the update is coming with a huge size of over a gigabyte (1049 MB to be precise).

Users have to bear in mind that to be able to proceed and complete the OS upgrade, they have to free around 3 GB of memory space. However, the amount of required memory space needed still vary depending on the device. Based on the screenshot provided by Sam Mobile, Google Play, Books, Movies and several other apps will be removed during the update due to "memory stabilization."

"After upgrading to Android 5.0 OS, your available memory will decrease by a minimum of 90 MBytes. If you have previously downloaded and installed a high number of applications, the available memory space will be further reduced," it added.

The new Lollipop update will bring the new features such as lockscreen and notifications, enhanced performance, and redesigned interface.

The International Business Times said that Russian S4 users should have already received the update via Over-The-Air (OTA). When you already got the update notifications, you can proceed by clicking the "Yes, I'm in" option. Your download will then start. After that, install it by clicking "Install Now." After the installation, expect your phone to restart automatically. Enjoy the new wonders of the new OS.

IB Times reminded users that the update is still just limited to Russia but it is expected to hit other countries soon. Users can check if you have already received the update by going into Settings then to About Phone and then to System Update. As of press time, other Samsung users have already received the update as it has already hit the Galaxy Note 3 and some S5 variants.

Android Origin reports that the update already was already received by S5 users in Poland, UK, Iraq, Sweden, Ireland, France, and South Korea. The most recent to receive the update are S5 users in SpainMalaysia, and Russia. As for the Note 3, only Russian users have received the update.

An alleged Samsung employee named "SamsungRep2015" earlier revealed on Reddit that Samsung stores have already been notified via an email to prepare their devices for the arrival of the Lollipop update. The said email stated that starting January 2015, Samsung Android devices will start receiving Lollipop OS updates. The leak also reveal that the update will roll out on the Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Edge, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4, and Samsung tablets. No specific roll out dates however were revealed.
