There are talks that the Dallas Cowboys might let go of DeMarco Murray in exchange for Adrian Peterson at a lower price.

Murray and Dez Bryant of the Cowboys are about to become free agents later in 2015 but the Cowboys are believed to be keeping only the latter. The team is rumored to be interested in running back Adrian Peterson, who is currently playing with the Minnesota Vikings.

Although there are some that question the move, there are a number of advantages in acquiring Peterson. First, the acquisition would be at a reduced rate, which would let the team afford Dez Bryant re-signing. As for Peterson, the transfer will improve his public appeal, following his pending child abuse case. There have been rumors that the Cowboys have been interested in Peterson before the child abuse allegation started. Reportedly, Peterson talked to Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones over the phone to discuss the possibility of moving.

ESPN reported that Jones said to Peterson during the phone call, "Well, I understand, Adrian. I'd like that, too ... Well, I love your story. I love your daddy's story. I've always respected what you've been about. I've always been a fan of yours." He added, "We'll see if we can make that happen."

Jones added after their conversation in the same ESPN report, "It was good talking to him. I'm a big admirer of him. We were talking about Texas. I really love his story, especially as to how it relates to his father. That's mostly what we talked about. Certainly, that was about it. It was after the George Strait concert. I think it was about an hour after the concert, so that was the atmosphere."

The 29-year-old Peterson is in the fourth year of his seven-year contract with the Vikings, valued at $100 million. HNGN wrote that the Vikings would like to have Peterson back if there were no legal issues. He is one of the best running backs in the NFL currently, with 10,190 yards and 86 touchdowns while rushing on 2,054 carries in his past eight seasons.

As for DeMarco Murray, if Dallas releases him, the Oakland Raiders will most likely pick him up, being the team with the highest cap space in the 2015 offseason with around $55 million. Sports World Report wrote that the team is looking for several playmakers and might bring in Murray, Julius Thomas, Demaryius Thomas, Randall Cobb, Ndamukong Suh or Jeremy Maclin.
