Almost 15 years since part 1 tickled audiences' funny bones in theaters, "Zoolander 2" is set to repeat the feat, as it looks like the film is finally going to get made. Updates of the sequel's production have come in steady and gradually frequent doses.

Recently, it's been announced that actress Christine Taylor will be back for part 2.

"I can tell you that I'm involved, but that's all I can say," she told Entertainment Weekly. "I can tell you it's happening, but I can't tell you where Matilda's at and where their relationship is at. It's all top secret!"

In the original film, Christine played "model-hating" journalist Matilda Jeffries, who ended up settling down and starting a family with Derek Zoolander, who was played by Ben Stiller, the actress' husband. Ben, as it was previously announced, will also be reprising his role as the "lunkhead supermodel."

"Their baby, Derek Jr., already shows early signs of following in his ridiculously good-looking father's career footsteps," EW said.

Back in November last year, it was confirmed that Penelope Cruz will be joining the cast and that Justin Theroux will be in charge of the script.

"Stiller and Stuart Cornfeld's Red Hour Films will once again produce. Will Ferrell and Owen Wilson have also been rumored to reprise their roles as the villainous designer Mugatu and Derek's rival model Hansel, respectively," the entertainment news source said. Right now, there still is no confirmation on whether the two will be back for "Zoolander 2."

ScreenRant said that talks of making a sequel began in 2008. "Since then there have been occasional updates indicating that the project is moving forward. Very, very slowly, apparently," the site noted.

"The original film had the unfortunate release date of September 28, 2001 and, finding a nation not quite ready for laughter, it grossed only $60 million worldwide. When the film hit DVD, however, it became a fast hit and plans for a sequel have been discussed for years," ComingSoon said.

In 2011, Ben told Empire that the setting for part two will be mostly in Europe ten years after the events that happened in the original film.

"I don't want to give away too much, but it's basically Derek and Hansel ten years later - though the last movie ended on a happy note a lot of things have happened in the meantime," he revealed. "Their lives have changed and they're not really relevant anymore. It's a new world for them. Will Ferrell is written into the script and he's expressed interest in doing it."

No release date has been announced for "Zoolander 2" yet.
