The fifth season of "Downton Abbey" has already finished airing in the United Kingdom since November last year, but in the United States, it's still set to air its fifth episode and if the promo and synopsis are to be believed, there's a lot more drama on the way, International Business Times reported.

Details and previews of the fifth episode have been revealed and they are already teasing a lot of the drama and scandal that fans can expect from the next episode which will air during the Super Bowl.

According to the synopsis released, Edith, played by Laura Carmichael, may find her secret revealed as her link to Marigold starts drawing attention. Also, despite Mr. and Mrs. Drewe continuously turning her away, she remains persistent, which might raise suspicions.

Thomas, played by Rob James-Collier, has a lot of things to deal with, as apparently there is something wrong with him. Miss Baxter already suspects that he isn't visiting his father as he said he was, so he will have to make a choice of his own.

The ladies of Downton are also busying themselves with their romantic lives and love prospects, such as Rose, played by Lily James, who will meet a handsome man and end up stepping away from her charity works, according to Mashable.

The Dowager Countess Violet Crawley, played by Maggie Smith, will seek Dr. Clarkson's help regarding Isobel and Lord Merton, while there will be new arrivals in Atticus Alridge and the return of Mr. Bricker for "art business."

There are people who will be leaving, Bricker and Robert getting into trouble, Lord Grantham having another outburst and also a shocking event that will shake up the residents of the Downton.

PBS also released the episode preview so fans can check it out and get even more teased on the fate of Downton and its residents.

"Downton Abbey" airs every Sunday at 9 p.m. EST on PBS.

The series has already been renewed for a sixth season, which sources claimed may be its last as writer Julian Fellowes is said to be moving to New York to work on "The Gilded Age," an American period drama, according to Mirror.

A source told the news outlet, "It's an open secret that Downton is ending this year." Reports also claimed that agents for the main cast were already looking for work for the actors during the Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles last weekend.

PBS hasn't confirmed the news though, so fans can only hope the rumors aren't true and we'll get to see more of Downton soon.
