Finally, the sequel to “The Man with the Iron Fists” is ready for release!
On April 14 this year, we'll be seeing Wu-Tang Clan ringleader RZA reprise his role as Thaddeus in the film, which he also co-wrote and executive produced.
Part two “follows a mysterious stranger as he leads a rebellion to liberate a Chinese village from its oppressive overlord,” ComingSoon said.
“When Thaddeus is found badly wounded near a 19th-century Chinese town, miner Li Kung (Nguyen) and his wife Ah Ni (Yuan) offer him refuge,” the site said. “As he heals, he becomes entrenched in a conflict that pits the townsfolk against the evil Master Ho (Ng), his nefarious Beetle Clan and the terrifying Lord Pi (Tagawa). With Thaddeus at his side, the mild-mannered Kung transforms into a deadly warrior in this martial arts epic.”
“Special features include a selection of deleted scenes, audio commentary with RZA and Reiné, as well as the featurette 'Chi Warriors: The Making of ‘The Man With the Iron Fists 2′,” the site added.
According to MovieWeb, the movie has an international cast, including “Dustin Nguyen (22 Jump Street), Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (47 Ronin), Eugenia Yuan (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend), Pim Bubear (Ninja 2: Shadow of a Tear), Carl Ng (New Police Story), Simon Yin (Ip Man), Ocean Hou (Man of Tai Chi), Grace Huang (The Man with the Iron Fists) and Andrew Lin (The Man with the Iron Fists).”
This time, however, Roel Reine helmed the film. The first iteration was RZA's first foray into the directorial role.
The trailer opens with RZA/Thaddeus intoning the following: “The duty of iron lies in its ability to adapt.”
“It's openness to quick change,” he continued in his voice over. “A good man is like iron.”
As the film's star spoke, scenes of an impending fight and the forging of a weapon interspersed with each other.
The trailer then proceeds to show a montage of films that show a village, a body of water, a group of people fighting, and the revelation of the movie's villain, who is described as a “ruthless man.” Of course, there's a shot of RZA bumping his iron-clad fists together near the end of the clip.
The trailer had already been revealed in November last year, as noted by Film Divider. The sequel had earlier been dubbed “Sting of the Scorpion” by RZA, but references to the said title are absent in the trailer.
“The Man with the Iron Fists 2” is a straight-to- Blu-ray/DVD release and can be seen on Digital HD and On Demand.
