Ancient Coffin Found on Mars? Photo Depicts Martian Sarcophagus, Says UFO Researcher

UFO enthusiasts and researchers are making claims over the possibility of life on Mars after a picture of a Martian landscape by the Mars Curiosity Rover showed what looked like an ancient coffin, Inquisitr reported

Since it landed on the planet in 2012, the Mars Curiosity Rover has been sending numerous photos back to NASA. While NASA finds these photos to hold "no scientific value," seeing merely rocks that were shaped through millions of years by wind and water, eagle-eyed UFO researchers have remained vigilant, according to UFO Sightings Hotspot.

The supposed sighting is making waves in the UFO-inclined community but NASA has not commented on is the idea of ancient life on Mars.

Researchers posted a video of the discovery on YouTube last week, one is by the user with the oddly-spelled username Martian Archaeoligist, who posted a video on the so-called "Martian Sarcophagus," and another by user UFOvni2012 who talks about "Ancient Aliens on Mars."

It's hardly the first time the idea of Ancient Martians has been contemplated and theorized worldwide.

Last month, UFO Sightings Daily also talked about a similar coffin-shaped figure found on the Martian landscape, which looked to be one meter across and a foot and a half wide and high. As coffins are made to stand the test of time, the writers believe that the stone figure could end up holding something ancient or aged.

They also claimed that by looking at the photo they obtained, there seemed to be stonework near the back that looked like stairs of some sort or possibly some leftover stonework construction from the old Martian civilizations.

Will Farrar, a writer for the website "Do You Know What's Up In The Sky," also mentioned the same thing, according to Science Times.

"It sure does look like a little coffin to me," he wrote. "Of course, the reality of it all is that it does look like a box-type feature carved out on another planet."

Farrar also pointed out that there have been some claims of something "crawling around" Mars, and it was possibly that something intelligent would have been able to create the coffin or work the landscape.

In as much as some are crying out that there really might be life on Mars given so many pictures and theories, some share a different opinion. There are some who believed that it just meant that the Mars Curiosity Rover is actually on Earth, according to Inquisitr.

A commenter on the video by Martian Archaeoligist wrote, "That rover is somewhere in the deserts of the Middle East."

NASA does not respond to any UFO claims though, so it remains to be seen if the people of Earth will ever find proof of the extraterrestrial.
