Smartphone users have, for the most part, made up their mind on which device has the best features, but does that include how durable it is?

People have gone out to perform the "Drop Test" of the iPhone 5 and Samsung's Galaxy S3 smartphones, and Latinos Post has gathered a few of the results.

SquareTrade dropped the Galaxy S3 outside, and it had an effect on the device's screen, shattering the front screen. The iPhone 5's outside drop had little damage on the side but "not too bad."

When dropped into water, both devices had some effect but it was the Galaxy S3 that faced the worse of the brunt. The Galaxy S3's screen went dark and had audio problems, while the iPhone 5 had some minor problems but the video and sound was still fine.

Among other tests by SquareTrade, the iPhone 5 fared better.

Alex Iser of Phone Doctors performed their drop test on the same day as the iPhone 5's US release date. From 45-inches high, the iPhone 5 was first to drop and faced "really no significant damage except for considerable damage on the frame itself..."

When dropped the second, third, then fourth time, the frame continues to bare the damage than the screen. Iser said an iPhone 5 cover could hide the scratches and marks of the frame.

An important note is during the drops, it was being recorded and the visuals were not disrupted. However, when dropped with force, it did finally break.

The Galaxy S3, also recording, didn't break in the 45-inch drop but did in the second drop.

Iser announced the winner of this test is the iPhone 5.

Android Authority conducted their drop test using three "realistic" drops, from falling from the pocket and from slipping from the hand at different heights.

From the pocket, about two-feet high, the iPhone 5's screen had no damage, but the frame was scratched. The Galaxy S3 also had no damage, "nothing too major."

From about four-feet, the iPhone 5 had "no serious damage." The Galaxy S3's screen was still functioning although the plastic was "completely fractured."

At 5-foot-6, from the ear, the iPhone 5's screen was still intact with minor cosmetic damage, but for the Galaxy S3, its back case broke off. The impact for the Samsung device cracked on the side but the screen was still functioning.

For the final drop test, at 5-foot 9-inches high, the screen of the iPhone 5 appears to be "very durable...fully functional," still in better shape compared to the Galaxy S3.

It appears for the third time, the iPhone 5 is more durable than the Galaxy S3.
