Justin Long will be coming back to the romantic comedy TV series "New Girl."

This was confirmed by Fox as it posted a news item about Justin Long's character Paul Genzlinger returning to the show.

Fox cited the exclusive report of E! Online which said that Paul might return in the series this 2015 to win Jess' heart back. Jess is being played by "500 Days of Summer" actress Zooey Deschanel.

Also returning back to the show is Josh Gad, known for voicing Olaf in the hit animated movie "Frozen," who is playing the role of Bearclaw, Jess' creepy admirer.

According to the E! Online report, Jess and her bestfriend Cece, played by Hannah Simone, will run into Paul and Bearclaw one night while they are walking back to the apartment. The two are stranded that night after drinking some cocktails out.

So why do you think Paul is returning?

Bustle's Nicole Pomarico listed at least four possible reasons. First, she said that it could be that Paul "needs more relationship advice." To note, Jess already did help Paul about his relationships before.

Second, it is also possible that he came back to invite Jess and the gang to his wedding with the Asian girl named Jenn to whom he was already engaged to back in season 1. Third, Paul, who is also a teacher like Jess, might have gotten a job at the school where Jess works. And lastly, maybe he is now a "professional traveling violinist."

E! Online noted that Paul was last seen in the show at the end of the first season. There, we saw him and Jess broke up after the latter felt that they were moving too fast. Paul was then later seen with another woman, Jenn, who happens to be just like Jess. It ended with the two getting engaged.

Aside from cast returns, another character is set to show up in "New Girl." According to TV Line, "Saturday Night Live" grad Nasim Pedrad will be joining the show this January as Aly, Winston's new training officer. The role of Winston is being played by Lamorne Morris. The episode wherein she will appear is titled "Shark" and will air on January 6.

It added that Nick and Coach will have issues with Aly but Winston will be okay with her. "Aly's diminutive stature will apparently be a cause of consternation for Nick and Coach, who are already freaking out about Winston's recent graduation from the police academy and impending entry into the field," TV Line's exclusive report said. The role of Nick is played by Jake Johnson while Coach is portrayed by Damon Wayans, Jr.

Aside from that, the January 6 episode will also focus on Jess using Schmidt, played by Max Greenfield, to urge a councilwoman block the night construction outside their apartment, Hypable said.
