Apple enthusiasts are looking forward to the release of the MacBook Air Retina in 2015.

Tech Radar reported that the current MacBook Air devices have long battery life and are very portable. However, these only feature low-resolution TN displays. The MacBook Pro with Retina was a great upgrade by featuring high-resolution IPS display. However, the better display quality takes a toll on the battery life. Apple is reportedly working on the creation of the MacBook Air Retina which combines the best of both worlds by featuring excellent quality resolution, slim and lightweight design, and excellent battery life.

Christian Today reported that people are particularly expecting sharper visuals and a higher resolution on the upcoming MacBook Air Retina, considering that the laptop will get the Retina feature which is already available in several Apple products unveiled in October 2014.

There are also more features that might come out in the new MacBook Air Retina such as the new Intel Broadwell-U processor. The processor will be a good complement to the device, since the high-quality display is expected to consume more battery life. The chip will improve overall performance while keeping the laptop portable and lightweight. Similar to its predecessor, the new MacBook Air Retina will have a slim build.

Also, users may get the benefit of wireless charging. There is also a possibility that the Touch ID present on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will be integrated into the new MacBook. Furthermore, there might be iOS integration that allows Apple users to conveniently sync their Apple devices using a unified operating system.

Generally, the new laptop will be a combination of the advantages of the Retina Macbook Pro and the MacBook Air.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously stated in a Mac Rumors report, "We expect the unprecedented 12" model will boast both the portability of the 11" model, and productivity of the 13" model. The high resolution display will also offer the outstanding visual experience of the Retina MacBook Pro. The offering will likely be lighter and slimmer than the existing MacBook Air to further highlight ease of portability in the cloud computing era. We think the form factor will showcase a much improved clamshell structure, and that it will redefine laptop computing once again following the milestone created by the MacBook Air."

Tech Radar also reported that the MacBook Air Retina may be released late in 2014 or in the spring of 2015. The price will most likely fall between the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro with Retina display.
